MindSphere World takes the stage in Siemens’ Open Space program

Contact Person: Iris Dilzer

Three MindSphere World members and the Chairman of MindSphere World discussed future projects and presented new ways of cooperating on the Siemens Open Space stage at Hannover Messe 2019. As part of last year’s MindSphere Open Space Challenge, Dr. Donatus Weber, a slitting and winding expert at Kampf, asked IT developers to propose solutions to his IoT challenge.  This led him to a development partner that joined him in presenting the results at this year’s Hannover Messe. Machine builder Baader and vacuum specialist Schmalz were also present with impressive use cases and IoT developments. In a podium discussion with Siemens Financial Services, Ulf Könekamp, Chairman of MindSphere World e.V., also presented the new options for financing Industrie 4.0 as well as new, data-driven business models with MindSphere.

In 2018, Siemens launched an innovative developer competition with the MindSphere Open Space Challenge. External IT developers first developed and submitted creative solutions to real challenges based on MindSphere. The best ideas were then given the opportunity to be implemented by a company and realized in MindSphere

MindSphere World members Kampf and codecentric on the integration of the on-premise platform the@vanced in MindSphere: At Hannover Messe the machine builder Kampf, together with codecentric, who are IT experts for agile software development, introduced implementation of its server-based platform “the@vanced” in the MindSphere ecosystem. The the@vanced platform had been local until now. It enables Kampf’s customers to automatically monitor and analyze data from their networked machines. Evaluating machine data across locations and not just within a single production site requires a cloud solution rather than an on-site solution. Instead of costly and time-consuming in-house development, Kampf was seeking a solution within the framework of the MindSphere Open Space Challenge, and found a suitable IT developer in codecentric.
